The writer mentions the two pianists Laura & Beatrice Puiu in his book
“Il nido e altri racconti” – publisher Olimpia 2011 “Sull’argine di Babadag” “Doctor Zhivago’s mother played the balalaika; he was a poet. In the case of the Puiu twins, however, the opposite happened. Daughters of a delicate Romanian poet, who called them Beatrice and Laura in homage to Dante and Petrarca, they have transformed poetry into music and from the piano they are invading Europe with four hands and with a cascade of notes. After Rubinstein’s Tarantella and Brahms’ 16 Waltzes and Hungarian Dances, I could hardly not shout in the theatre: “Fantastic!”… because the music dragged me towards memories of the waters of their land, where the origin of life still emanates with an arcane scent from the marshes of the immense estuary.” (…)

“With musicality and intelligence, the whole Puiu Piano Duo’s interpretative approach has enhanced the two very different parts of the Sonata for 2 pianos: the first, turbulent and saturated with events, the second – enigmatic and quiet. I witnessed a profound, sensitive, and expressive interpretation, with an exceptional timbral dosage, emotional tension, and a diversified […]
