Honorary Citizenship of Sestino (Arezzo) 2013

Sunday, August 4, 2013, after a wonderful concert, the Directors and the mayor Elbo Donati went on the stage of the Teatro Comunale “P. Cavallini” of Sestino (Arezzo) and announced that the City Council had approved to grant the honorary citizenship to the two pianists Laura and Beatrice Puiu. The Theatre, crowded for the occasion, welcomed the announcement with a roar.

“For the honour and friendship that has been built with Sestino and its families – introduced the mayor Donati – for the great music that they have been bringing to our town for four years now, and in recognition of the internationally lead music education activities, the two concert artists deserve all our gratitude. The municipal council unanimously resolved – therefore – to give them honorary citizenship”.

The extraordinary nature of the event is underlined by making it known that Sestino has attributed this recognition only to the Hon. Sanarelli in 1904 and to the University of Urbino Rector, Sen. Prof. Carlo Bo, in 1986.

The excited protagonists unexpectedly found themselves signing on stage the Municipality’s “Golden Book”.

For us, Italy is extraordinary, the beacon of the world for Art, Music, Science… In Diplomatic Agencies abroad we never fail to remember this. Every small town, like Sestino, reflects Italy and is synonymous with great culture, great civilization.”

“Recognising the Value of Art – they continued in duet – also has a precious and indispensable social and educational merit. With this important gesture – not only towards us, but towards Culture – which is what writes Italian History in the world -, Sestino has valued and recognized the Art’s great role in the individual education, nowadays even more significant than ever”.

CITTADINANZA ONORARIA del Comune di Sestino (Arezzo) 2013

Domenica, 4 agosto 2013, dopo uno straordinario concerto, sul palco del Teatro Comunale “P. Cavallini” di Sestino (Arezzo) sono saliti gli Amministratori e il sindaco Elbo Donati ha annunciato che, il Consiglio Comunale  ha deliberato la cittadinanza onoraria per le due pianiste Laura e Beatrice Puiu.

Il Teatro, affollatissimo per l’occasione, accoglie con un boato l’annuncio.

“Per l’onore e l‘amicizia che è stata costruita con Sestino e con le famiglie di Sestino – ha introdotto il sindaco Donati – per la grande musica che portano ormai da quattro anni nel nostro paese, come riconoscimento anche delle attività di educazione alla musica a livello internazionale, le due concertiste meritano tutta la nostra riconoscenza. Il consiglio comunale alla unanimità ha deliberato – quindi – di attribuire loro la Cittadinanza Onoraria”.

Si sottolinea l’eccezionalità dell’evento rendendo noto che Sestino ha attribuito tale riconoscimento soltanto all’On. Sanarelli nel 1904 e al Magnifico rettore della Università degli  Studi di Urbino, Sen. Prof. Carlo Bo, nel 1986.

Le protagoniste, emozionate si trovano inaspettatamente a firmare sul palco il “Libro d’Oro” del Comune.

“Un’emozione grandissima – spiegano Laura e Beatrice. “Un onore inaspettato e profondo. Per noi l’Italia è straordinaria, il faro del mondo per l’Arte, la Musica, la Scienza… Nelle Rappresentanze Diplomatiche all’estero non manchiamo mai di ricordarlo. Ogni piccolo paese, come Sestino, è Italia ed è sinonimo di grande cultura, di grande civiltà.”

“Il riconoscimento del Valore dell’Arte – hanno continuato in duetto – ha anche una preziosa e indispensabile valenza sociale ed educativa. Con questo importante gesto – non solo verso di noi, ma verso la Cultura – che scrive la Storia Italiana nel mondo -, Sestino ha valorizzato e riconosciuto questo grande ruolo che ha nella formazione dell’individuo e in modo particolare al giorno d’oggi”.
